On 14 August 2006, the day of the cessation of hostilities and the return of the displaced, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared that Lebanon stood "before a strategic and historic victory", promised to rebuild more than 15,000 destroyed housing units with a year's rent and furniture for every family, and called for the debate over the resistance's weapons to return to closed channels; the beginning of the "Waad" project.
