⚔Iraq invades Kuwait, Syria joins the coalition

On 2 August 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait, and Syria joined the American coalition against Saddam; its implicit price was American cover for settling the situation in Lebanon, and the 13 October attack on Baabda came ten weeks later without Western objection.
