✸The Mountain fighting begins: Aytat, Aley, Baysour, Choueifat

On 9 May 2008 the fighting spread to the Mountain, between fighters of the Progressive Socialist Party and Hezbollah in Aytat, Aley, Baysour and Choueifat; artillery and mortars were used for the first time and four Aley municipal policemen were abducted. The 6 p.m. ceasefire did not hold, and the fighting continued overnight in the Barouk mountain until the Druze agreed on the morning of 10 May to stop fighting and hand Jumblatt's villages to the army.
