✸The Ma'alot operation

On 15 May 1974, the anniversary of the Nakba, three members of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine infiltrated from Lebanon into Ma'alot and held more than 115 hostages from a school trip in the Netiv Meir school, demanding the release of 23 Palestinian prisoners. It ended with an Israeli storming of the school in which 25 of the hostages, among them 22 children, and the three gunmen were killed; Israel answered the next day by bombing the Nabatieh camp and the villages of the South.
