On the night of 1–2 August 2006 more than two hundred soldiers from elite units landed at the Dar al-Hikma hospital in Tal al-Abyad north of Baalbek under cover of aircraft and helicopters, and the resistance and the army fought them until four in the morning; 18 citizens were martyred, seven of them from the Jamaleddine family, and five civilians were abducted from a house whose occupants Israel claimed were cadres, one of them named "Hassan Nasrallah". Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah called the landing a "military failure", and Michel Sleiman said the blood of the soldiers and the resistance fighters "had mingled".
