On 10 May 2008 the army command announced the freezing of the government's two decisions on the telecommunications network and the head of airport security and demanded that the gunmen withdraw from the streets; Siniora said the network file would be referred to the army and that Brigadier Choucair would return to his post. Hezbollah announced its withdrawal from West Beirut while the "civil disobedience" continued; six were killed in an attack on a funeral procession, one was killed in Sidon and two soldiers east of Beirut, and the Bab al-Tabbaneh–Jabal Mohsen fighting broke out in Tripoli.
