On 19 July 2017 the "Washington Post" revealed that President Trump had decided in June to end the CIA's secret programme to train and arm the armed factions in Syria, after four years and more than a billion dollars; the role of the MOC room in the south receded and the Southern Front collapsed in the summer of 2018.
