On 25 May 2011 Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah rejected any Western sanctions on Syria and any Lebanese participation in "projects targeting it", holding that bringing down the regime served America and Israel, and said Assad was "committed to reform and ready for major changes" calmly, distinguishing Syria from regimes "closed as in Bahrain and as it was in Egypt"; he supported the uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya and Bahrain, warning: "Beware of American policies and the American administration."
