On 21 March 1976 the Holiday Inn, the Kataeb's last stronghold in the hotel district, fell to the National Movement and the PLO after days of shelling and assault; the Kataeb fighters withdrew towards Ashrafieh, and the Battle of the Hotels ended with the left in control of the seafront.
