☠Assassination of Elie Hobeika

On 24 January 2002 the former minister and deputy Elie Hobeika, the former Lebanese Forces commander accused over Sabra and Shatila, was killed by a car bomb in Hazmieh together with three bodyguards; he had declared his readiness to testify against Sharon before the Belgian courts, and the perpetrators were never identified.
