✸The Coastal Road operation (Dalal Mughrabi)

On 11 March 1978 a Fatah group that had set out by sea from Lebanon landed on a beach near Haifa under the command of Dalal Mughrabi and seized two buses on the coastal road between Haifa and Tel Aviv; it ended in a clash in which 38 Israeli civilians, among them 13 children, and nine of the attackers were killed. Three days later Israel invaded the South up to the Litani.
