On 17 June 2020 the American "Caesar Act" came into force, punishing the Syrian regime and anyone who deals with it, at the height of the Lebanese collapse; Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on 16 June and 7 July that the act also targeted Lebanon and called for turning east, to China, Iraq and Iran, for fuel and investment.
