●First official ceasefire

The truce was announced after intense political pressure led by the prime minister of the time and President Suleiman Frangieh, in coordination with Palestinian and Lebanese parties. Despite the announcement of the ceasefire and its partial success in reducing the intensity of the clashes for several days, the truce collapsed quickly; rounds of violent fighting resumed and the battles spread to other parts of Lebanon.
