In a message dated 17 August 2014 to John Podesta, published by WikiLeaks in October 2016, Clinton called for pressure on the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which "are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region". Her campaign neither confirmed nor denied the message's authenticity, and the two states denied funding the organisation.
