The first use of Katyusha rockets: the day after the assassination of Sayyed Abbas al-Musawi, on 17 February 1992, Hezbollah fired Katyusha rockets at northern Palestine for the first time, opening the equation of reply to the targeting of civilians. Al-Ahed's chronology dates the Katyusha's entry "into the resistance's equation on a wide scale" to the Kafra–Yater confrontations of 21 February 1992, which forced an Israeli force to withdraw. According to Israeli sources the shelling of the Upper Galilee began on the evening of 16 February itself, and the chief of staff Barak said 20–30 rockets fell within hours; the firing stopped under an undeclared truce from 21 February through Syrian–Lebanese mediation after the factions met in Sidon.
