On 8 February 2000, after the killing of five Israeli soldiers in two weeks in resistance operations, among them the shelling of Beaufort castle, Israeli aircraft bombed three power stations at Baalbek, Deir Nbouh and Jamhour, cutting power to Beirut and other cities and wounding 13 civilians in Baalbek; Israel walked out of a meeting of the April Understanding monitoring committee, threatening to repeat the raids.
