In August 1993, after Operation "Accountability" (25–31 July) and the verbal July Understanding through American mediation on not targeting civilians, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in an interview that the understanding was an implicit recognition of the legitimacy of resistance against the occupying soldiers and that the party would answer any targeting of civilians; a second interview the same month was titled "Who is Hassan Nasrallah?".
