●Parliamentary elections
On 15 May 2022 the parliamentary elections were held in the shadow of the collapse: Hezbollah and its allies lost the majority, the Lebanese Forces rose to the largest Christian bloc, and 13 "change" deputies from the October uprising entered parliament. After the elections Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on 18 May: "No side can claim today that the majority is with this side or that", holding that a parliament without a majority must not be used to exclude anyone, and calling for calmer rhetoric, cooperation on the crises of daily life, and flexibility over the parliament's bureau, the committees and the government: "Shirking responsibility is a betrayal of trust." Two days before the vote Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had accused his opponents of having "formed their lists in the American embassy" and of buying votes for 100 to 500 dollars, urging: "Do not withhold your votes from the resistance or from the resistance's allies."
