On 21 May 2012, the day after the killing of Sheikh Ahmad Abdel Wahed, clashes broke out in Tariq al-Jdideh between supporters of the Future Movement and the group of Shaker Berjawi (the Arab Movement, close to 8 March); two were killed and the army entered the area.
