After Ahdab's coup and the statement of support from the "Christian Officers' Movement", who numbered 24 officers, it became clear that Ahdab's coup would not produce the hoped-for result, and they did not in fact join under his command. In this situation the so-called "Army of Lebanon" was founded under the most senior among them, Major Fouad Malik, with the Internal Security Forces' Mohammed Nasser barracks in Geitawi as their headquarters.
