On 28 July 2006 the Islamic Resistance fired a "Khaibar 1" rocket for the first time, at Afula, 47 kilometres from the border, with shelling of Acre, Safed and the Dalton intelligence base; the mujahideen surrounded an Israeli concentration south of Maroun al-Ras and downed a drone over the Barouk mountain. The enemy answered with four massacres in Hadatha, Kfar Jouz, Yater and Deir Qanoun al-Nahr (some twenty martyrs) and thirty raids in three hours on the West Bekaa. The UNIFIL commander Pellegrini told "The Times": "Hezbollah cannot be defeated militarily."
