●USAID University Scholarship Program for public-school students

From 2010 USAID has funded full scholarships for high-achieving public-school students in financial need at the Lebanese American University, Haigazian University and then the American University of Beirut, covering tuition, books, housing and a computer; the American University said the agency had invested more than 150 million dollars in it over ten years. This aid comes within a series of American and international programmes to shape public opinion and build a political, economic and media elite that owes its formation, networks and career paths to a foreign state.
