✸The Verdun operation

On the night of 10 April 1973 Israeli commandos landed in Beirut (Operation "Spring of Youth") and assassinated three Fatah leaders in Verdun: Kamal Adwan, Kamal Nasser and Mohammed Youssef al-Najjar; Saeb Salam's government resigned in protest at the army's inaction.
