✸The Tleil explosion

PartiesGovernment

At dawn on 15 August 2021 a seized petrol tanker exploded at Tleil in Akkar while people were crowding to fill up with petrol during the fuel crisis, killing 33 people (Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah cited in the evening the official toll up to then: 27 martyrs and 79 wounded); one of the ugliest tragedies of the collapse. The same evening Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah called from the Ashura platform for an investigation that holds those at fault to account away from sectarian recrimination, attributed the fuel shortage to hoarding and "greed and avarice without limit", and declared: "We will certainly bring diesel and petrol from Iran."
